Kyan excelled during his Building Services Engineering T Level placement with Drayton Beaumont Services, where his enthusiasm and technical ability quickly stood out. His strong performance led to an apprenticeship offer, allowing him to continue developing his electrical installation skills while working towards full qualifications.
During his T Level, Kyan built a solid foundation in using industry tools, understanding site safety, and working confidently with PPE, which helped him transition smoothly into his apprenticeship. Supported closely by his employer, he has worked on major projects including Newcastle College and the Institute of Technology in Stafford.

Jack chose an apprenticeship as the best way to enter the trade, valuing hands-on, on-site experience over classroom-based learning. While studying a T Level in Building Services Engineering at NSCG Newcastle College, he completed a work placement with Drayton Beaumont on the Technical Excellence Centre building project. This experience led directly to an apprenticeship offer.
No two days are the same for Jack, with work ranging from installing conduits to working on solar systems across different areas of site. Seeing a building progress from the ground up has been a standout experience, reinforcing his passion for the trade and long-term career growth.
Across mechanical, electrical, fire and thermal engineering, the demand for skilled, work-ready people continues to outpace supply.
